Para-Professional Nursing

As a member of the health care team, para-professional nursing staff provide services necessary to maintain residents’ physical, psychological and emotional needs that allow them to carry out regular activities of daily living. In the para-professional nursing area, a number of short term courses are offered to provide education for employment in a variety of health care settings. Training prepares students to take state exams for certification. Students who are 18 years of age or older are not required to have a high school diploma or GED before being admitted to the program. Students enrolled in high school need permission from their high school. Most of the courses require at least eighth grade reading ability that requires a test be taken to indicate that the student has that ability. Arrangements for this test can be made that the Dodge City Community College testing center.
